Introducción:

There are many myths about Emily Dickinson's life. The most important are that she was a completely isolated woman and that she was insane and depressed. Emily Dickinson wrote poetry that was revolutionary for her time. Throughout her life, she wrote 1,778 poems. She wrote letters as poetry and poems about all sorts of topics from love to death. The format of her poetry is sometimes difficult to read because she dispenses with traditional punctuation and language structures. Although she wrote so many poems, only a handful were published during her life. Dickinson's poetry has been extremely influential to the study of poetry over the years.
