The learners create good examples of scaffolds to support their modules.

Introducción: 

Scaffolding is a very important part of CLIL. With no scaffold, the language demands might be too high for the students to accomplish. If the language demands are too high, we run the risk of lowering the cognitive demands so our learners can follow us. Thus, they wouldn't be learning as much content.

Trhough this webquest you will be able to surf differnt links with different ideas for scaffolding both the input and the output of the students.

Use these ideas to scaffold the activities in your planning module.

The teacher as a scaffold

Use, at least, 3 input scaffolding tools for improving the comprehension of the content by your students and, at least, 3 output scaffolding tools for improving the production and the thinking skills of your students.

Process

  1. Check your plan with the CLIL Matrix that we used in the classroom
  2. Check if you can provide your learners with some more language demanding activities that can be scaffolded to make them easier.
  3. Check if you need to apply some of these scaffolding techniquesto lower the language demands of any of your activities
  4. Design the 3 input scaffolds (they can be for different activities, materials or stages)
  5. Design the 3 output scaffolds (they can be for different activities, materials or stages)
  6. Report your adaptation to the rest of the groups through groups of experts
